Project of Capacity Development of Provincial Rural Development in Northeastern Provinces (PDRNEP)

Country : Cambodia
Project Duration : July 2007 - March 2011
Client : JICA

To provide administrative services that match the needs of residents and reduce poverty, the national government of Cambodia is implementing the decentralization and deconcentration reform to delegate authority to local governments. The reform established councils at the capital, province, municipality, and district levels that play the main role in providing administrative services. This project is implemented in the provinces of Ratanakiri and Mondulkiri that the 2003 Report on the Millennium Development Goals rates as the least developed in Cambodia. More specifically, the project carries out training and pilot projects for officials of the Ministry of Interior, provincial and district governments, and sector departments. The goals of the projects are sustainable local development by residents, and improvement of the capacities of provincial administrators for strategic formulation and implementation of development projects.
